Find out more about the Smart Village project: futurethinkers.org/village Participate in our very first NFT drop: futurethinkers.org/nft We're very excited to announce that on June 1 2021 we're dropping our first Smart Village NFT! If you are not familiar, NFTs stands for Non Fungible Tokens - it's a type of crypto token that is verifiably unique or rare, instead of being interchangeable in the way that dollars or Bitcoins are. They are a type of crypto token that has become popular with creators for releasing limited edition art or collectibles. But there is much more to NFTs than art (we actually think they will be revolutionary for creators of all kinds!). NFTs can represent any other type of unique item - a ticket, an access key, membership, a recognition badge, an IOU for a service, and much more. We will be releasing several different kinds of NFTs for the Smart Village in the near future. By purchasing our NFTs, you are directly contributing to bringing the village into reality. The first NFT we are dropping will be:
We've been working with the folks from Commons Stack and Longtail Financial to do token engineering and validate our token ecosystem that the NFTs will be part of. This is just the beginning! In This Episode of Future Thinkers:

The new Joker film with Joaquin Phoenix is an extremely timely and relevant commentary on what is happening in the Western world right now. From the mass shootings and the epidemic of mental illness to the grief and anger that people are feeling in the climate change protests, the film is symbolic of many patterns emerging in modern society. In many ways, the film is a warning. We wanted to do a commentary on what can be done about the feelings and patterns of behaviour illustrated in the film, and what we can do about them on an individual and societal level. Our guest in the following two episodes is Cris Beasley, an author, podcaster, ex AI startup founder and healing practitioner who created the Love Lock card deck to help people explore and work with difficult emotions. We asked Cris some of the questions that we often get from our listeners and course participants: how to access the repressed emotions in the body, what are some of the helpful techniques and tools to do it, and how to integrate these emotions into our lives in a healthy way. This episode is in two parts. In Part 1 we talk about the most common 4 emotional responses in difficult situations, the transformative power of breath work, and other tools to access difficult emotions. In Part 2 we will talk about the role of emotional health in society and why it is crucial for gaining self-sovereignty, as well as the current position of mainstream science on energy work and healing practices. We had a great pleasure to interview John Vervaeke, a lecturer at the University of Toronto in the departments of psychology, cognitive science and Buddhist psychology. John’s excellent lecture series on YouTube called Awakening From the Meaning Crisis has inspired us to invite him on the show and discuss how to overcome the meaning crisis in today’s world. In this interview we also dive deep into the topics of integrating scientific and traditional views of the search for meaning, multiple kinds of knowing, and the ecology of transformational practices. We draw on various resources from cognitive science, psychology, philosophy, religion and spirituality. This episode is divided in two parts. In Part 1 we talk about what is the meaning crisis, why it has emerged and what are some of the practices and solutions to deal with it. In this episode we discuss further on one of our favorite topics - how to gain more sovereignty in modern world, as well as how it relates to the notion of personal identity. We use Jordan Greenhall's framework to describe sovereignty as developing and practicing three basic capacities: perception, sense making and agency. We discuss these capacities in the context of dominant framework of secular thought in the Western world, the crisis of meaning, entrepreneurship, identity politics etc. The ideas and inspiration for our discussions come from weekly group calls that are part of the course in personal evolution that we are currently facilitating. Our guest in this episode is Joe Brewer, Executive Director at the Center for Applied Cultural Evolution. Joe is a complexity researcher, cognitive scientist, and evangelist for regenerative culture design. We invited him onto the show because we felt that our ideas about adult development, rites of passage, and overcoming the chasm of nihilism strongly resonated with his thinking and work on cultural evolution. This interview turned out to be very dense and we talked about complex subjects, so we divided the episode in two parts. In Part 1 we talk about what kind of education we need in order to prepare for an evolutionary transition, why even intellectuals can’t wrap their heads around climate change, and the importance of the grieving process for psychological and spiritual growth. In this episode we are discussing the concept of "adulting" and why it's relevant today. We also talk about how being an adult will change in the future and what meta-skills one needs to develop in order to adapt to the fast-changing world. Adulting is an ironic term used by the Millenial generation to describe holding grown up responsibilities like paying the bills or taxes for example, but not feeling like an actual adult while doing that. We discuss why the adult "script" that was handed to us by the previous generations (go to school, get good grades, get a career for life, get married etc) doesn’t seem relevant or even possible for many young people today. Instead of the specific skills that are taught in schools and tailored for the traditional script of adulthood, we are exploring meta-skills, or the general skills that one can apply to any area of life to learn other skills. The last two feminine archetypes we are covering in this series are The Witch and The Queen. The common association with The Witch is a wicked old woman that we see in many movies or stories for children. However, this interpretation has a lot of historical religious bias, which we deconstruct in this episode. We discuss The Witch in her fullest - as a powerful creative force and bringer of disruptive ideas. We also talk about The Queen Archetype, a fully integrated combination of all the other feminine archetypes that can emerge when the woman matures. At the end we propose a few exercises that can help you evoke different archetypes in your psyche or better understand other people's behavior. Understanding the archetypes can help us see our blind spots, refine our strengths, and ultimately bring about deep and profound personal transformation. So with this episode we are finishing our Jungian archetype series, where we explored four masculine (Lover, Warrior, Magician, King) and five feminine archetypes (Mother, Amazon, Lover, Witch, Queen). Today we are exploring the feminine archetype of The Lover, which to a certain extent mirrors its masculine counterpart but also has its own specific traits. The feminine Lover is the embodiment of love, beauty and creativity. While researching this topic, we've discovered that it is difficult to talk and write about this archetype, as female sexuality still hasn't been fully reconciled and accepted in post-agricultural society. We are covering the Lover Archetype through history, psychological development, culture, arts and popular media. In This Episode Of Future Thinkers:

The Amazon archetype is the embodiment of an ambitious, adventurous, and independent woman. She is the feminine version of The Warrior archetype, fighting for the values she believes in. This is a very common archetype in movies - Wonder Woman, Hermione Granger in Harry Potter, and Ripley in Alien are some of the many examples. In everyday life, many women in business, politics, and sports occupy this archetype. As all the other archetypes, The Amazon too has its childhood and adult manifestations, as well as active and passive shadow versions. In this episode we discuss why The Amazon is so relevant in today's world. In This Episode Of Future Thinkers

After covering Jungian masculine archetypes in previous four episodes, today we are starting to explore feminine archetypes. Even though there is somewhat less literature and research on this topic, there are certain archetypes that are consistently described across the different systems. So in the second part of this series, we will explore the archetypes of The Mother, The Amazon, The Lover, The Witch, and The Queen. We begin with The Mother, the characteristics of her full expression and her shadow versions, as well as the examples from popular culture, that will help you better understand and recognize this archetype. The King Archetype represents an integrated version of all other masculine archetypes. The Lover, The Warrior and The Magician in their full expressions, with all positive traits solidified, are baked into The King. Interestingly enough, the childhood version of this archetype - The Divine Child, is the first one to emerge in a person's life. To fully integrate the mature version of The King archetype, it usually takes many years and a lot of life experience. In this episode, we give an overview of The King's traits, its shadow versions, as well as how to access it in its fullness regardless of your age or the stage of life you are at. The Magician is the third Jungian masculine archetype in this series. The Magician has a deep curiosity for everything in life — he is willing to put in the effort to learn the secret knowledge and teach it to the others. He uncovers things that are not immediately obvious, understands how they work and applies that knowledge to creating something new. So, in relation to The Warrior, for example, The Magician is the creative force and the thinker who drives the actions of The Warrior. In this episode, we talk about the full expression of The Magician archetype, the well-known magician characters from popular fiction, as well as the examples of magicians in our culture and science. We also talk about its shadow versions, and how to recognize them in business or within your community. In This Episode Of Future Thinkers:

Archetypes can be defined as the primordial modes of being, sets of behavior, or energies that we as humans occupy on both biological and psychological levels. Archetypes were largely explored and described by psychiatrist Carl Jung. The second Jungian masculine archetype we are covering in this series is The Warrior. It is the most misunderstood archetype in our culture, often connected with unnecessary violence and tyranny. However, in its full expression, The Warrior is needed in order to bring about productive change in the world. We discuss how this archetype manifests in its childhood and mature versions, and talk about its characteristics and some well known versions of it like The Bully, The Hero, The Sadist, The Nice Guy etc.

To explore this topic, we start with the idea that for 99% of history, humans were hunters-gatherers and evolved to live a very different lifestyle — spending time outdoors and tightly connected to their communities. Now that we live indoors, sitting in front of a computer, not socializing or exercising sufficiently, eating processed food, our modern lifestyle is not in line with our nature, and that is the major factor of the present epidemic of depression. Today we talk about the value of novelty as one of the basic human needs. A sense of novelty is something that many people seek out and use different tools to achieve.
